High Tech Soul: The Creation of Techno Music (DVD)

The music scene in Detroit has produced plenty of poodle-haired rockers over the years, but this documentary turns to the Motor City`s influential, yet resolutely underground, techno scene. The techno movement blossomed in the 1980s, with artists such as Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Carl Craig, music techno and Jeff Mills crafting tracks that packed an energetic rush of bloops, bleeps, music techno and beats. Techno music - Techno is a form of electronic music that emerged in the mid-1980s and primarily refers to a particular style founded in Germany and developed in and around Detroit and subsequently adopted by European producers.
