Told with much compassion, two stories from Nobel Prize-winning writer Luigi Pirandello are brought to the screen from Italian masters the Taviani Brothers (PADRE PADRONE). In the first, an aging baritone singer in the opera is forced to give up his profession due to heart trouble. As he attempts to give up his dreams, his wife notices a strange phenomenon that literally keeps her awake at nights. Her husband, despite his personal sadness, is laughing uproariously in his sleep.
